December 07, 2006 - 1:11 p.m. The games people play. Obsessive minds will watch the movie in slow motion at 85% speed to catch all the dialog. "Slo-mo" is great for viewing the love scenes. Maybe it's my imagination, but the final editing is timed and the words are digitally spoken faster (sped up) to reach the 90 or 120 minute film duration. Reducing the sound speed makes the dialog seem more realistic, like normal conversation. A year ago in October 2005, I went deep six in protecting myself, passwords, written correspondence, inner core feelings. You put yourself out there emotionally because you are drawn to a certain person. Intellectual challenges pique your interest. It's a hard habit to break. Strong addiction to overcome. However, for most people, eye candy becomes more important. So you walk down that aisle for a few months shopping online, in bars, wherever the hotties meet. What the camera doesn't show you is glue substituted for milk, plastic and wax fruit instead of the edible kind, padded shoulders, fake boobs, perfect shots using the right settings, camera angle, light meter. The packaging is fabulous! Very pretty. Inside is a box of nothingness. Seldom deep and frequently shallow to match the color coordinated ribbons, bows, wrapping paper, gift card. You come back to my aisle when you want to play with the remote controlled humvee, fly the jet airplane, loop-the-loop. Go yo bed alone at night with a happy meal, happy smile. All is well in your world. Each year the clown with a tear in her eye smiles back and welcomes the digital arms lifting her off the dusty, empty shelf. But not this year. I have a North Pole train to catch. Final destination is the land of lasting impressions, historical contributions. Forging meaningful relationships and stepping more outside the box to meet quality people. Sitting home alone at the keyboard each night is crazy man. Missed opportunities. Makes boo edgey. Some people call her a literary genius with letters and words. Passing the bar exam is only a testament to her creative talents. That special knock at the door is never going to happen in this lifetime. I'm tired of waiting for it. And will not humiliate myself initiating a similar feat. Some people are content with the game. The challenge of defeating a friend or combative enemy. Watching is more important to them. Getting any type of reaction, the valued prize. Viva Las Vegas. Hasta luega baby! ~ Soldier Girl
