Rain is good for the earth. Reduces the threat of fire when the ground is moist. Once winter approaches, it will rain every day in the northern pacific.
I imagine the residents of Portland and Seattle have already psyched themselves up for the rainy months. That must explain all those drive-up windows and coffee huts scattered everywhere. Simply roll down your window, order a coffee or cappuccino to go. Must be lots of spilled coffee stains inside cars. Damaged upholstery, white leather seats that need constant cleaning.
When you miss someone, what do you really miss about them? Conversation, intimacy, a favorite dish, sharing of stories, music, poems. Pride gets in the way of reaching out to him or her. Years roll by and it takes a strong person to reconnect with their past. We all like pleasant surprises. Age doesn't allow for too many of them. Your mind freezes a face, body, person in time. Life draws the lines, grays the hair, sags the skin and what you remember is no longer there. But fond memories. And I find great solace in remembering.
