Beneath the sublayers, textured painting We conceptualize the hue of many colors Pain and happiness of ten years
Lonely nights at the end of a bottle, cigarette
Weather-tempered driftwood washed ashore
Finally came to rest at my front door
Bringing mixed feelings of joy, night crawlers, sunfish
First emotion was strong to feel desired
Second one was quick, exciting, perfect
Third took us by surprise, mouths agape outside
The scrape of shark teeth across soft lips.
Connecting present to past fishing expeditions.
